Business Inn Hotel in Ottawa, a review

During our stay in Ottawa, we stayed at the Hotel Business Inn, a hotel that has a kitchen. Did it convince us? here we tell you.

During our stay in the capital of Canada, despite bringing a car, we wanted to be able to tour the city without having to use it. In addition to being able to cook dinner and be comfortable. The choice was the Business Inn Hotel in Ottawa, which would be the only hotel on our route through eastern Canada. Was it a good choice? Here we tell you.

The ubication

If your goal is to be able to explore Ottawa’s sights on foot, then the location is excellent. For us, it was very convenient. We didn’t even need to take public transportation during our visiting day in Ottawa.

The reception and the staff

At the reception there were two people, the one who greeted us at the beginning seemed somewhat dry, it must be said. And it is that we were already so used to the Canadian warmth, that it felt like an ice cube, but everything changed when we talked to the other person at the reception, who turned out to have Korean roots, so when we told him that we had visited South Korea and that I liked Korean series, he was pleased.

Something that caught my attention was that in the middle of the reception there were several sinks. I don’t know if they were already there before the pandemic, or they started as a result of it.

The price

The price was approximately 115 euros per night. It is expensive, yes, but those are the prices we find in Canada in general. Perhaps by booking further in advance, it will be possible to find a better price.

How was the Business Inn room?

It is quite spacious, with a sober and pleasant decoration. It has air conditioning and heating. In addition to a huge television in front of the bed, which I really only tried to use once and I couldn’t. In the room there was a closet where we could store the clothes that we would use those days.

The bed and pillows were very comfortable and for those who need darkness to sleep, although these curtains do not completely block out the light, they do cover it a lot. Since this point doesn’t bother me much, I didn’t care a bit, but I prefer to comment on it because for other people it is important.

The living room

Ah, but the room does not end there. Since there were other sections in it, not only the bedroom, we also had a living room with a comfortable armchair and another huge television: we used this one.

Desk and dining room

In addition to the living room, in the same space there is a workstation with your computer and printer: very well-equipped. It must be considered that this hotel is designed above all for business travelers, so this is the reason that we find a workstation in it. Next to it, we see the small table that serves as a dining room.

The kitchen

As a result of the pandemic, when we were finally able to travel again, we opted for accommodations that had a kitchen. The reason for this preference is having the freedom to make meals ourselves, which saves us money and human contact (it is about reducing risks, then). Now that the restrictions have been relaxed in many places, with all the more reason, we continue to prefer this type of accommodation.

So, after the experience of the hotel in Dubai that did not have soap to wash the dishes or salt, now we look more at what equipment has the kitchen of the place we are going to. I have to say that the Business Inn Hotel in Ottawa was quite well-equipped. The kitchen had a microwave, toaster, kettle, napkins (they don’t have them everywhere), coffee maker, stove, dishwasher, refrigerator, pots, spoons, etc.

And speaking of pots and spoons, here is a small sample of what you see when you open the drawers. One thing I have to say they didn’t have been a pasta strainer, but this time it didn’t occur to us to ask at the reception if they had one, so I can’t say for sure whether they did or not. They didn’t have that in the room.

The bathroom

The bathroom had a huge mirror and those theater star dressing room type spotlights, I loved it. Also, with the huge mirror came a huge space to leave the bathroom bags: something that I always value very much.

I have no complaints about the other items in the bathroom, such as the toilet or the shower.

The installations

In terms of facilities, the Business Inn hotel in Ottawa is quite well-equipped. In addition, on each floor we find a piece of furniture where we can have more coffee, printer paper, towels, etc. The truth is that I really liked that detail, and I had not seen it in any other hotel.

Gym

The hotel has a well-equipped gym. In my case, I don’t usually use them, I’m already exhausted with so much walking, but it’s good to know that the place where we are staying has these facilities.

Parking lot

The hotel has a covered parking lot and to use it you have to pay 20 dollars per night. We wanted to leave the car in a safe space. When hiring the parking lot, they gave us a sheet in which the car’s registration is recorded, and so we can use it, enter and exit, without problem. The parking space is assigned by number, with this, we are not afraid of not finding a place in case of going out.

Laundry

I found out that the hotel had laundry in advance in fact, when I arrived, I needed to wash. And we found the good news that in addition to the laundry room having many washers and dryers, the use of these was FREE. Oh! Nice surprise. In addition, soap was also at our disposal.

Breakfast

Breakfast was included in our rate. I don’t know if all the rates and rooms have breakfast included, since when we arrived, nobody asked us our room number or anything. This makes me think that any guest can go to have breakfast.

The room where we can eat is small, the two times we went it was somewhat crowded. The breakfast is arranged in such a way that we could pick it and take it to our room (we even asked the staff that were there, and they told us that there was no problem). We did it this way since we had orange juice in the room that we had already brought from previous days, and we did not want it to be wasted. Also, the table in our room was much quieter than the ones in the breakfast room.

Where to buy food?

Near the hotel, there are several markets where we can buy food.

Final Opinions on Business Inn in Ottawa

We only stayed two nights at the hotel, and I was looking forward to extending my stay. We felt very comfortable in this hotel, that armchair in the room became an ally when returning from a hard day of visits.
