Review – Hotel Shangri-La in New Delhi

We bring you our opinions about the Shangri-La Hotel in New Delhi. Did it meet the quality expectations? here we tell you.

To close our trip to India, we decided to treat ourselves. So, we stayed at the hotel of a very prestigious Asian chain. Did it meet expectations? Here I tell you our review of the New Delhi’s Shangri-La.

Remember that you can book the Shangri-La hotel in New Delhi and check the prices for the dates on which you will travel to the capital of India.

Where is Shangri-La New Delhi located?

This hotel is located in Connaught Place, a business and financial center. The nearest metro station is Patel Chowk, it is very close but when we arrived from the airport, not wanting to walk with our suitcases, we took a tuk tuk. Although it wasn’t really necessary, that’s how close it is.

The reception and the staff

Arriving at the hotel, we see the enormous reception, with a very nice decoration but without being ornate. A wedding was taking place in the garden, so we saw women parading in very pretty saris. Upon check-in, we received the excellent news that we had been “upgraded” and the room would be even better than the one I booked, how nice. They gave us a key card, the room number and off we go.

Room experience at Shangri-La New Delhi

Special welcome

Upon entering the room, a few minutes later arrived a hotel manager to ask us if we would like a masala tea, by saying yes, he prepared it for us right there in the room. Wow, we hadn’t been in the hotel for an hour, and it already felt like an excellent treatment. Our review on the Shangri-La was shaping up well. But would it continue like this?

We also had at our disposal bottles of water and the necessary to prepare tea and coffee. We also had a plate with various fruits.

The room, moreover, was huge, and the sheets for once during the trip were WHITE, really white. If you read our summary of the hotels in India, you will see that during this first trip the sheets did not reach the white level, until reaching the last hotel.

And there was a flat screen TV where we could see some Bollywood movies installed in the comfy bed.

Dinner in the room

And for dinner, we didn’t feel like going out into the city as we were pretty tired. We didn’t even feel like going to the hotel restaurants, so we decided to complete the treat and order dinner in the room. The experience was very pleasant, the manager arrived with all the dishes in a cart that he set ready for us as if it were a table. And that’s where we had dinner, our last dinner in India.

How was Shangri-La’s bathroom?

The bathroom is huge, with a separate tub and shower. In addition, we had at our disposal a number of amenities. And, something that should not surprise me, but after two weeks in India I thought it was wonderful: the paper rolls were big.

How much did Shangri-La in New Delhi cost?

Price was, as you can imagine, not cheap at all. The price was something like 131 euros per night, very expensive for India, although I have to say that we actually paid 40 euros since we had a discount coupon (which I was saving for such an occasion). And I do not regret having used it this time, it was a success.

How are the facilities?

In the gardens there is a swimming pool, which unfortunately I did not have time to use, as well as a lounge. I made a quick turn to see it, but I couldn’t stay.

Breakfast

Breakfast is buffet style, but what a buffet! It has a wide variety of options to leave with a full belly, there is food from India, Europe, including French cheeses, super rich breads, we ate a lot, too much (but it was our last breakfast in India).

Final thoughts on Shangri-La

If you are looking for a hotel in which you feel like in cotton wool, where you need to recharge after several weeks of non-stop, then highly recommended, despite the expensive price, because the service is commensurate with the price. Our final review about the Shangri-La is more than positive.
